How long does it take to get a divorce?
The length of a divorce really depends on what your specific situation is. If you’re in the midst of a very contentious dissolution where the two of you are fighting with one another like cats and dogs, the divorce process can take a very long time. It can take anywhere between a year, three or four or even five years, depending on how many marital assets there are and what you’re fighting about.
It can also take much shorter than that, if the two of you get along and are reasonable with one another and tend to agree on more things than most divorcing couples do. Under those circumstances, a divorce can take as little as eight months to a year or a year and a half. But the exact length of a divorce will depend on your particular circumstances.
