Unfortunately, there is no way to accurately predict how long a divorce proceeding will take. The length of a divorce proceeding will primarily depend upon what your specific situation is.

An extremely contentious divorce where the parties are fighting bitterly over every single issue can take years to complete.

If the parties agree to behave in more civil and cordial manner, however, a divorce proceeding will be typically be much quicker. Under those circumstances, a divorce proceeding may take as little as 8 months or a year to complete.

In a nutshell, the more the parties fight with one another…the longer the process will take.
