When Does Child Support End in California?

Southern California Law Firm Frequently Asked Questions Video

Back to Southern California Law Firm Video Gallery

In general, as to any unmarried 18-year-old child who is a full-time high school student and not self-supporting, a parent’s support obligation continues until the child completes the 12th grade or reaches age 19, whichever occurs first.

This rule does not apply, however, to parents who have an adult child with special needs and that lacks the capacity to support him/herself.
